Tim Norris

Guitar, Bass Guitar, Piano, Ukulele

Tim Norris has been teaching at Woodsy's since 2007, enjoys teaching a wide variety of styles ranging from rock to folk, all while incorporating his passion for theory, writing, and improvisation. He has an Associate of Arts degree in Music from Lorain County Community College, and obtained his bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar from The University of Akron.

Michael Grady

Guitar, Bass Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Ukulele, & Songwriting (Online Lessons Only)

Michael Grady has been living in NE Ohio for 12 years and, teaching private music lessons in the Medina area for more than a decade. He has taught a variety of instruments including guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, dobro, piano, mountain dulcimer, and even drum kit. Michael has been writing and performing his own music for over 30 years, led numerous workshops on songwriting and performing, and is a winner of the Kent State Folk Festival Talent Contest.

Michael currently performs in the duo Grady Miller, co-founded with his wife Cathy Grady.

Stuart Popagain

Piano

Stuart Popagain has been teaching at Woodsy's Music since 2012. He studied piano performance at Baldwin Wallace University, in pursuit of his Bachelor of Music. Stuart has studied piano for over 20 years, studying under Elizabeth Pastor and Robert Mayerovitch. He has participated in master classes with Sungeon Kim, Joseph Satava, and Spencer Meyer. He specializes in Classical music, but has proficient knowledge in Theory, Jazz, Rock, and other styles.

Nick Puin

Percussion

Nick Puin holds a Bachelor of Music Composition degree from The Berklee College of Music, a Masters of Music Composition degree, and an Ohio Teaching certificate from Cleveland State University. His compositions and arrangements have been performed by The Cleveland Orchestra, The Cleveland Chamber Symphony, The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, The Singing Angels, The Bop Stop Jazz Unit, and The Baldwin-Wallace University and Case Western University Jazz Ensembles. His work has been commissioned for radio and television commercial advertising recordings, various ensembles and Cleveland recording artists. He has taught in the Beachwood, Maple Heights, Brunswick, Berea and Strongsville City Schools. While at Maple Heights, he implemented a successful Jazz Studies program, composing most of the arrangements for the ensemble . He was the Marching Band Director in Strongsville from 2012-2014.

He taught private lessons at Motter’s Music in Mayfield Heights for 43 years before joining us at Woodsy’s in 2018. He leads his own band, The Nick Puin Band which has performed together since 2001. He has been the Music Director for The Italian Band of Cleveland (performing for Italian church festivals) since 1987, a member of the Cleveland Composers Guild since 1998, and currently serves on the advisory board of Artistic By Design, an organization devoted to promoting the arts by providing classes in music, art and dance.

Ian Wenz

Flute (Online Lessons Only)

A native of Cleveland Ohio, Ian Wenz enjoys an active and versatile career as both educator and freelance performer throughout Northeast Ohio. An accomplished flutist, Ian has performed as a soloist, within various large ensembles, and participated in solo and chamber music recitals both internationally and throughout the U.S.

Along with his passion for performing, Ian is a dedicated teacher whose students encompass all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced. In addition to his position at Woody’s in Medina, Ian teaches privately for Lakewood City School District, Saint-Edward High School and is on staff at the Hudson School of Music as well as maintaining an active home-based studio. He also serves as the home-school music instructor for Olmsted Performing Arts in Berea, Ohio. Ian holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance from Bowling Green State University, and a Master of Music degree from the University of Akron where he served as graduate teaching assistant.

Angela White

Trumpet and Trombone

Angela White, previously the Assistant Marching Band Director at Chippewa High School from 2009-2013, is currently the assistant band director at Buckeye High School in Medina, OH. She is an active substitute band teacher for several of the area school systems. Angela completed 16th seasons playing cornet for the semi-professional Brass Band of the Western Reserve as well as being an alumnus of the prestigious Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps. Angela received her Bachelor’s & Master’s degrees in Music Education from The University of Akron.

Tracy Ramer

Guitar, Bass Guitar, and Ukulele

Tracy Ramer attended the Berklee College Of Music studying guitar, theory, arranging, audio recording and attended the University of Akron studying guitar & electronic music. He has worked for and with a massive catalog of artists, including: Dennis Edwards (former lead singer for the Temptations), Ashford & Simpson, The O’Jays, B.B. King, Stylistics, Delphonics, Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, Kashif, Cissy Houston, Millie Jackson, Melba Moore, Phyllis Hyman, Red Hot Chili Peppers, 10,000 Maniacs, Georgia Satellites, Concrete Blond, Dreams So Real, Donnie Iris, Firehouse, Chubby Checkers, Jan & Dean, Frankie Ford, Davy Jones, The Drifters, and Wolfman Jack.

He has performed across the United States and North America, with special performances at the Cleveland Emmy's, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and SouthXSouthwest.

Tracy is currently a member of: House of Rhythm, Tenny-Shoe Bop Bunny Band (children’s show), Special Blend, Music Conspiracy, and the NOS band . He also performs extensively with Different Hats ensembles and The Geezecats.

Jim Curtis

Percussion and Guitar

Jim Curtis studied percussion at the University of Akron under Dr. Larry Snider and performed with the University of Akron steel drum band. He studied drum set with Mark Gonder and focused on Latin, funk, rock and jazz. Aside from percussion, Jim has composed music for short film that have played in Cleveland, Toronto and Brooklyn. He records music frequently and performs as much as time allows. He has a deep passion for music and tries to share that with each of his students.

Emily Popagain

Bassoon, Oboe and Clarinet

Emily Kopec joined Woodsy’s in 2018 and teaches bassoon, oboe and clarinet. She attended Butler University in Indianapolis with a major in Arts Administration. She is also our Woodwind Technician, handling repairs of all woodwind instruments.

Jon Mosey

Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Steel Guitar, & Ukulele (Online Lessons Only)

Jon Mosey is a full-time musician who plays nearly every instrument with strings. An accomplished professional musician, his teaching emphasis includes traditional styles of Guitar, Banjo and Mandolin. Jon performs and teaches a variety of styles. Jon’s credits include six albums as a soloist and a number of other recordings as a studio sideman and with a variety of bands. He's appeared in a number of feature films, on radio and television, as well as touring throughout the US and Europe. Jon currently keeps his schedule full performing as a soloist, in the Jon Mosey Trio, The Road Scholars and the Crooked River Stompers.
